A few months ago we had a need to understand how the world wide web actually handled email and made sure that messages went forward to where they were intended. We obtained enough information for what we wanted from the internet standards that are confusingly called "RFCs" or Requests for Comments. But this book is much more of the information we were seeking. As the authors say, hardly anyone will want to do more than look up a particular explanation in this book. But we can attest that these explanations are not readily available elsewhere. So if you feel a need to know how the internet actually works handling messages, as distinct from knowing how to use and con communicate through the internet, this book is a must for you.
