Windows NT is a platform independent 32 bit operating system that does not sit on a MS-DOS base. In other words, versions of it will run on computers other than those based on Intel processors. A Windows 95 user interface is mentioned in the hook so an upgrade path is clear for Microsoft operating system users. None of this will make much difference to computer users whose main benefit is access to more computing power. This book is for applications developers who must now or later be ready to supply systems to run under Windows NT.
